Formula
Example
A Rs 20,000 committee with 10 members gives a pot of Rs 200,000. If your turn is third, you have paid Rs 60,000 when you receive it — like an interest-free loan of Rs 140,000.
How a committee works
A group of people pay a fixed amount every month into one pot. Each month one member takes the whole pot, until everyone has had a turn. Nobody earns or pays interest; the committee simply spreads saving and access to money across the group.
Making it fair and safe
- Write down every member, amount, date and turn order
- Draw turns openly or agree them in writing before the first payment
- Collect payments by bank transfer or wallet so there is a record
- Agree what happens if someone pays late or leaves
- Only join with people you know and trust
Early or late turn?
An early turn is like an interest-free loan: you get the full pot and pay it back over the coming months. A late turn works like saving: you pay in first and receive everything at the end. Choose the turn that suits your need for money.
Running it digitally
A shared sheet or a simple app with members, payments and dates prevents most arguments. Soft2Cloud is working on a digital committee app for offices and families.

Frequently asked questions
Is an early or late turn better?
An early turn is like a loan; a late turn is like saving. In a fair committee no one gains or loses money, only timing changes.
How much is the pot in a 10-member, Rs 10,000 committee?
Rs 1,00,000 each month, and every member pays Rs 1,00,000 in total over ten months.
Is a committee allowed in Islam?
Most scholars allow a committee where everyone pays and receives the same amount with no extra charge. Bidding committees where people pay extra for an early turn are treated differently.
