Formula
Example
Rs 100,000 plus Rs 10,000 a month at 12% for 10 years grows to about Rs 2.63 million, of which Rs 1.3 million is your own money.
The power of starting early
Rs 10,000 a month for 20 years at 12% a year grows to about Rs 99 lakh, although you put in only Rs 24 lakh. Wait ten years and invest the same for 10 years, and you end up with about Rs 23 lakh. Time does most of the work in compounding.
Profit after tax and inflation
Bank and fund profits in Pakistan are taxed, and prices rise every year. To see the real growth, use the after-tax rate in the calculator and compare the result with how much prices have risen. The bank profit calculator shows the tax on profit.
Where compounding applies
- Savings accounts and term deposits that reinvest profit
- Mutual funds and pension funds
- National Savings schemes where you reinvest the profit
- Your own business profit put back into stock

Frequently asked questions
Are returns guaranteed?
No. The tool assumes a constant return. Real profit rates on savings accounts, funds and certificates change.
What is the rule of 72?
Divide 72 by the yearly rate to estimate how many years it takes money to double. At 12%, money doubles in about 6 years.
Is compound interest allowed in Islamic banking?
Islamic banks pay profit on Mudarabah-based deposits instead of fixed interest. The growth sum works the same way, but the rate is not guaranteed.
