Zakat Calculator
Add up your zakatable wealth — cash, bank balance, gold, silver, business stock and money owed to you — subtract debts due now, and see if you are above the nisab and how much zakat is due at 2.5%.
How to use the Zakat Calculator
- Enter cash in hand and bank or wallet balances.
- Enter your gold (tola or grams) and its karat, and any silver.
- Check the gold and silver rates — they are filled in automatically from international prices; replace them with today’s local sarafa rate.
- Add business stock at sale value, money others owe you and investments, then subtract debts due now.
- Leave the nisab rule on Automatic, or choose silver or gold.
Formula
Example
Suppose silver is Rs 3,500 per tola, so the silver nisab is Rs 183,750. Someone with Rs 300,000 cash and no debts is above the nisab and owes 2.5% — Rs 7,500. If they also own 2 tola of 22k gold at a 24k rate of Rs 300,000, the gold is worth Rs 550,000 and the zakat becomes Rs 21,250.
Who has to pay zakat
Zakat is due on an adult Muslim of sound mind who owns wealth at or above the nisab, and whose wealth has completed one lunar (Hijri) year. Many people fix one date, often in Ramadan, and calculate their zakat on that day every year.
What to include
- Cash at home and in bank accounts, wallets and savings
- Gold and silver in any form, including jewellery (per the Hanafi view)
- Business stock at its current sale value
- Money lent to others that you expect to get back
- Shares, funds and savings certificates, at current value
What not to include
- Your home, car and furniture for personal use
- Tools, machines and shop fittings used in business
- Clothes and household items
- Plots bought for living, not for resale
Debts
Debts due now, such as unpaid bills, rent owed or a loan instalment due, are subtracted before checking the nisab. Long-term loans are treated differently by scholars; many count only the instalments due in the coming year. Ask a scholar you trust about your own case.
Paying zakat
Zakat is 2.5% of the zakatable wealth. It can be paid to the poor and needy and to the other groups named in the Quran. Many people give it to relatives in need, students, or trusted welfare organisations.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the tool use the silver nisab when I own gold?
In the Hanafi view, followed by most people in Pakistan, if you own only gold the nisab is 7.5 tola of gold. If you own gold together with cash, silver or business goods, they are added together and the silver nisab (52.5 tola) is used. The Automatic rule does this for you.
Which nisab should I use?
Many scholars recommend the silver nisab because it is lower and benefits more poor people. Others use gold. Ask a scholar you trust.
Is zakat due on jewellery I wear?
Scholars differ on this. The Hanafi view, common in Pakistan, counts gold and silver jewellery. Please confirm for your situation.
Is bank zakat deducted automatically?
Banks in Pakistan deduct zakat on some savings accounts on the 1st of Ramazan unless you have filed a declaration. Count that deduction when you work out the rest.
What is the nisab in 2026?
The nisab is 7.5 tola of gold or 52.5 tola of silver. Its rupee value changes with daily rates, so the calculator fills in current international rates which you can replace with your local sarafa rate.
Is zakat due on a plot?
Zakat is due on a plot bought with the intention of selling it for profit, at its current market value. It is not due on a plot kept for building your own home.
How is zakat on gold calculated?
Multiply the weight of gold by today’s rate for its karat, add it to your other wealth, then take 2.5% if the total is above the nisab.
